March 16, 2026

Every March, families across the UK find out whether their child has been offered a place at their chosen secondary school. A new school, a new challenge, and the start of the next chapter.

Whatever the outcome, take a moment to recognise what your child has done. For many, this is the first time they've worked towards something truly competitive. Through that process, they've built real skills: focus, persistence, and the ability to keep going. Those will serve them far beyond this exam.

This year, 1,159 Atom families shared their National Offer Day results with us. More than any year before. Here’s what they told us.

The results

  • 87% of Atom students received an offer from their top choice school.
  • 91% success rate for families applying to independent schools
  • 75% success rate for families applying to grammar schools
  • 1,159 families responded — our largest ever National Offer Day survey

For context: the national grammar school acceptance rate is around 20–30%. On Atom, it's 75%. Atom students are nearly four times more likely to earn a grammar school place than the average applicant.

Year after year, these outcomes aren't down to luck. They're what happens when families commit to a little revision every day, long before exam day comes into view.

What families are saying

Many parents shared the schools their children received offers from, highlighting the range of competitive grammar and independent schools that Atom families secured places at this year.

"Atom was amazing — I truly believe it is what helped my child achieve a 100% perfect score in the 11+, which the school haven't seen in years." — Parent, Queen Elizabeth's High School, Gainsborough
"We've got offers from Tiffin, St Paul's, King's College Wimbledon, Latymer Upper, and also passed all 3 Sutton SET." — Parent, St Paul's School

This year, grammar school families made up the largest share of our survey respondents and the results reflect just how well grammar preparation is paying off.

What made the difference

Each year, we ask families what worked in their exam preparation. The same themes come back consistently.

School-specific online and paper mock tests

Time and time again, our practice papers are the first thing parents point to.

The 11+ exam has a specific format, and children who arrive on test day having already sat papers that mirror the real thing are at a significant advantage. Familiarity builds confidence, and confidence on exam day gets the results.

"The practice papers were fantastic practice. Katrina was offered KEHS and Wycombe Abbey. Both prepped for using Atom." — Parent, King Edward VI High School for Girls

Adaptive learning that targets the right gaps

Atom automatically identifies your child's weaker areas after every session and structures the next lesson to improve them. Every concept is tracked, every gap is closed, and the questions adjust in difficulty as your child improves.

You never have to guess what to work on next. Atom maps it all out for you, week by week.

"Every weekend it highlights my son's weak areas, and the next week it builds lessons on those topics until he masters them. At the end, in maths he was 100% master in all topics." — Parent, Wilmington Grammar School for Boys

Progress tracking for parents

One of the most stressful parts of exam preparation is not knowing whether your child is where they need to be.

Atom's parent dashboard gives you a real-time view of their progress by subject, topic, and against other children applying to the same target schools, so you always know exactly where they stand and what to focus on next.

"Atom Learning made it so easy to target development areas and structure the learning to her tailored needs. It was a calm in the storm we needed." — Parent, Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School

Keeping children engaged over the long run

The children who get the best results are the ones who keep showing up. For children aged 7 to 11, that's only possible if they're enjoying it.

"Atom made learning easy and enjoyable. We liked the learning islands because it broke subjects into bite-sized and manageable chunks." — Parent, Torquay Girls' Grammar School
"My twin daughters had a very high score. Atom Learning helped them study with fun. They said they really enjoyed it. The exam was like a piece of cake to them." — Parent, King Edward VI Five Ways School
"It gave him some 11+ standard study materials in bite-sized chunks. His attention span isn't great so breaking it down into these small lessons and presented like a game worked great for him." — Parent, Sir Thomas Rich's School

Our Pupil Premium success in 2026

Atom is proud to partner with grammar schools across the country to provide eligible Pupil Premium students with access to Atom Home. Our mission has always been to make high-quality learning resources available to every family, and this year's results show that support is making a real difference.

  • 85% of Pupil Premium recipients reported receiving an offer.
  • 88% success rate for those applying to grammar schools

This year, children accessing Atom through our Pupil Premium programme received offers at schools including:

  • King Edward VI Five Ways School
  • King Edward VI Handsworth School for Girls
  • King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys
  • Wolverhampton Girls' High School
  • Queen Mary's Grammar School
  • Haberdashers' Adams
  • Sir Thomas Rich's School
  • Kendrick School

And many more, with offers secured at grammar schools nationwide.

For many of these families, Atom was their only resource.

"I wasn't able to afford a tutor. Atom Learning meant that my child was able to revise the subjects needed for the Kent test just like any other child with the funds able to do so." — Parent, The Norton Knatchbull School
"It enabled my son to get the extra support he needed to pass his grammar test, which I otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford." — Parent

This is what happens when every child has access to the same quality of preparation.

Every success story starts somewhere

Behind every offer this year is the same decision, made at some point: to start.

National Offer Day is a big milestone. Each result represents years of steady progress — building knowledge, strengthening problem-solving skills, and developing the confidence needed to succeed in competitive school exams.

The results from this year’s survey reflect what can happen when preparation begins early and becomes part of a child’s everyday learning. Over time, those small, consistent efforts add up.

That's not a secret. It's just how learning works.

See where your child is. Know what to build next.
