Are you taking your A-levels in 2027? Find out the key dates you need to know, from mocks through to results day.

Key information for the 2027 A-level series

  • Exams start: week of Monday 10 May 2027
  • Exams finish: Friday 18 June 2027 for most subjects (some papers, including the Maths Advanced Extension Award, run to Tuesday 22 June 2027)
  • Contingency day: Wednesday 23 June 2027
  • Results day: Thursday 12 August 2027
  • Mocks: typically November to January for Year 13, exact dates set by your school

When do A-level mocks start?

Before the real exams, there are mocks. For Year 13 students, mock exams typically take place between November and January, giving you a full set of results to work from before the summer series.

The exact dates are set by your school or college, so check with your teachers and your school's own calendar for confirmation. Some schools also run a second, shorter round of mocks in the spring term for subjects where the first mock result raised concerns.

When do I get my A-level mock results?

Your school sets the date for mock results, and this varies from centre to centre. Most schools aim to turn results around a few weeks after the papers are sat, giving you time to act on the feedback before study leave begins.

When do A-level exams start in 2027?

A-level exams are set to start the week of Monday 10th May 2027. This is the first week of the summer exam series.

Exam schedules are provided by your school ahead of time based on your specific subject and specification, so use the dates below as a general guide rather than your personal timetable.

When do A-level exams finish in 2027?

The main written exam series runs until Friday 18th June 2027 for most subjects, with a small number of papers (including the Mathematics Advanced Extension Award) sitting as late as Tuesday 22nd June 2027.

Exam boards have also designated Wednesday 23rd June 2027 as the official contingency day. You won't usually need it, but you're expected to remain available until this date in case an exam has to be moved.

When is A-level results day 2027?

A-level results day will be Thursday 12th August 2027. Results are dispatched to schools electronically the day before, on Wednesday 11th August 2027.

GCSE results day follows a week later, so if you're also waiting on a sibling's GCSE results, that's Thursday 19th August 2027.
